Did you know your core is incorporated in almost every movement? When it comes down to fitness and exercise, everything comes back to balance and your core. A strong core improves your balance and posture. Another benefit of having a strong core is that it will also help protect your spine, your inner organs, and your nervous system. A strong core will also help prevent injuries.
So what are the core muscles? Your major core muscles consist of the pelvic floor muscles, rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, multifidus, internal and external obliques, psoas major, piriformis, erector spinae (sacrospinalis), especially the longissimus thoracis, and the diaphragm. Your minor core muscles include the latissimus dorsi, gluteus maximus/minimus/medius, and trapezius.
StrongBoard Balance activates these core muscles by way of instability. Making it unable to find a point of stabilization is what is key. This means your muscles are fired up and engaged at ALL times.
A great thing about our balance boards is that ANY BODY can use them! StrongBoard is perfect for new moms, seniors, military, and much more.
Just standing (or even sitting) on the balance board will put those core muscles to work. Here are some of our favorite core focused exercises:
- StrongBoard Plank
- StrongBoard Side Plank with Reach Through
