In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, and everything Irish and green, we at StrongBoard would like to talk about why you should take your workout outside! The weather is starting to warm up around the country, and springtime is ideal for getting fit outdoors, as it’s not too hot and not too cold.
While some may be more inclined to try to test their balance after coming home from St. Patrick’s Days activities, or trying to drink a Guinness without spilling while balancing on their StrongBoard, we’ll be talking about why it’s good to experience some green before you start your pre-St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
So why is it good to work out outside?
Simply put, humans come from nature. It’s only been in recent times in which some people have started to lose their connection. Numerous studies have noted how being in nature, or even just viewing images of it, can help make a person happier and more at ease. Our brain naturally rewards us for being in an environment which has been most natural to us throughout our history. Some of our Yoga and Pilates StrongBoard customers have noted using their StrongBoard outdoors helped them feel more peaceful and meditative while working out, as they felt the presence of nature. Combining getting outside with working out, which has also proven to improve people’s happiness, is getting more bang for your buck. Just remember to make it easy on yourself, and put your StrongBoard on a flat surface.
