If you’re reading this, we made it. Somehow, we got through 2020. Our lives changed in ways we never could have imagined, but our strength and resilience showed up just when we needed them most. Whether your gym closed its doors, or not, you trudged on. Maybe you began working out at home, or maybe you took some time off, but you survived.
Now with 2021 upon us, we must find ways to thrive. Instead of committing to something for an entire year, when we have no idea what the future holds, I would like to encourage you to make a new resolution each month. At the end of each month, you can choose to keep your new habit, and / or move on to the next month’s resolution.
Begin by making a list of health and fitness habits you are interested in. Some examples include:
- No sugar
- 30 squats a day
- No alcohol
- 30 burpees a day
- No bread
- 30 push ups a day
- No caffeine
- 5,000 (or more) steps a day
- 30 days plant based
- 30 minutes of cardio a day
- 30 days whole foods only
- Plank progression
- Drink 1 gallon of water a day
- Meditate for 10 minutes each morning
- Intermittent fasting
Once you have a list which resonates with you, choose one habit and commit to it for the month. If you like the way it feels, you can always stick with it, but each month choose a new habit for 30 days.
Coming out of 2020, we have a deeper understanding of what’s important, so dig in to the things and people which make you feel good. When we feel good, we do good, and the world needs more good right now.
Happy New Year!
Mike :)
