About StrongBoard Balance:

STRONGBOARD BALANCE employs patented multi-spring technology which promises users will never find a point of stabilization. Compressing under any weight bearing load, including the human body, StrongBoard’s springs are both reactive and dynamic. Featuring over 180 degrees of tilt in every single direction, simply standing on StrongBoard requires total core engagement. Unlike other balance devices on the market, STRONGBOARD BALANCE offers a flat, rigid platform, and it’s perfect for standing on one foot or two, planking on one hand or two, and v-sit exercises. Designed by ACE certified personal trainer, Mike Curry and a team of engineers, StrongBoard is easy and safe to get on and off, and it’s flat platform protects joints and surrounding ligaments from unnatural supination or strain, allowing the user to mimic real-life movements in all positions. STRONGBOARD BALANCE weighs 15 pounds and may also be used as a weight for bicep, tricep, chest and abdominal exercises. In addition to the muscular and skeletal benefits, use of StrongBoard requires the muscles to communicate with the brain, effectively opening, healing, restoring and strengthening delicate neural pathways. The biomechanics of spring technology coupled with the rigid platform require users to find their true center of gravity, allowing these neural pathways to be created or restored without fragmentation. Balance Board Exercises for Beginners

Balance boards are a great way to attain fitness in a quick and fun workout that can be performed easily in the comfort of your own home.

Balance training with a few sets of balance board exercises are extremely beneficial in enhancing your everyday health and well-being. The biggest advantage of using a balance board in your workout routine is that it enables you to add a real element of physical stress training.

Balance board exercises are meant to improve three core areas- balance, equilibrium, and stability. Whether you are a retiree, college student or stay at home mom, a quick balance board workout is the solution for better proprioception and to get your heart rate up in just a few short minutes.

Balance board exercises have varying degrees of difficulty, and there are several exercises that you can perform on a balance board as a beginner.

StrongBoard Balance Board Exercises

Exercises to try with a balance board:

Balancing- Staying on the balance board in itself is an exercise. To get started-

  • Stand on your balance board with your feet a shoulder's width apart and bend your knees slightly.
  • Once you're comfortable, try to push the balance board from side to side without letting the edges touch the base.

As you get better with this, try to increase the speed and duration of moving back and forth.

Knee Pushups- Performing pushups on a balance board is a great way to activate many of your upper body’s muscles. The pushup is a good variant for beginners with your knees on the floor. To start your balance board pushup-

  • Place the balance board on the floor.
  • Put your hands on both side sides of the board, keeping them directly beneath your shoulders.
  • Try to lower your body by bending at the elbows. Once your elbows are at a 90-degree angle, push back up, and repeat.

Once you become advanced and gain enough strength, you can progress to regular pushups with your knees off the floor.

Squats on StrongBoard BalanceSquats - Using a balance board in your squat are a great way to stay strong, and fit. To set up for your squat-

  • Start by standing on the balance board with your feet a shoulder's width apart.
  • Place your hands in front of you, arms straight, and try to bend at the knees until they reach a 90-degree angle.
  • Try to reach the bottom of the squat.
  • Reverse the movement until you’re upright again.

Balancing Heart Health and Exercise

StrongBoard Balance Board Heart Health and Exercise

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States annually. What can be done to prevent heart disease?

The answer is a complicated one, but there’s no doubt leading an active lifestyle is important. While this particular blog focuses on exercise, diet plays a much bigger role in heart health. It doesn’t matter how effective your workout regime is, if you are consuming trans fats, saturated fats, and foods which cause inflammation, your heart will pay the price. However, exercise can improve heart health if you’re eating right.

‘Leading an active lifestyle’ is a broad term, and it’s easy to get lost. Specifically, interval training has been unmatched in it’s benefits to the heart, as well as battling diabetes, and losing weight, which are all big contributors to heart disease.

Interval training is short bursts of high intensity exercise, followed by slightly longer periods of active recovery. The more muscles you can involve, the better. More muscles involved means your heart has to work harder to pump blood to more areas, leading your heart to have to become stronger.

For example, you could try three rounds of as many pushups as you can in a minute period, with two minute breaks in between. Incorporating weights into your training is even better. Stronger muscles ease tension on the heart. Oh, and being strong is inversely correlated with death in men. Yoga, non-impact sports, and simple activities like gardening or cleaning help to relieve blood pressure and burn calories.

The good news is, to have a healthy heart, you don’t have to exercise for hours on end. You just need a short workout in which you give it your all.

StrongBoard Balance and Yoga Practice

The tree pose (pictured below) is one of many yoga poses, also known as asanas, made more challenging by StrongBoard Balance. Yoga practice encourages balance, alignment, and awareness in the body while stimulating the mind, which is why it is ideal to enliven a stale routine, and challenge yourself.

StrongBoard Balance Board Yoga

So how does StrongBoard benefit yoga practice? StrongBoard benefits the Yogi by assisting in strengthening the core muscles for increased spine stabilization, and strengthening ligaments and tendons around high stress areas (knees and ankles), which supports better balance and overall performance. Additional benefits are improved coordination, flexibility, anaerobic capacity, and muscle endurance.

A beginner can use StrongBoard Balance to establish proper alignment of the spine and stability of the ankles, hips, shoulders, and core. It’s recommended to start off with basic poses, even for an expert (at least initially) when beginning yoga on StrongBoard. Poses like the plank, downward facing dog, and warrior 1, 2, and 3 are all good poses to start off with. The advanced Yogi, after adjusting to StrongBoard, can go for more intricate poses such as tree, headstand, and wheel.
